We advise all the Horticulture farmers of farming community to take the benefits
from the some government agencies like National Horticulture Board (NHB), Horticulture
Mission, APEDA etc for increasing the area of fruit crops as well as marketing of
the products. NHB provides subsidy to the farmer for Horticulture farming. The NHB
requires the project report for any type of support. The Head quarter of NHB is
located at Gurgaon, Delhi, but the regional office is at Ahmedabad and Rajkot for
Saurashtra region. They support the farmer from pre harvest to post harvest operations.
The Horticulture mission is also support the farmer through Horticulture Department
of State Government. State Government is also provide many support for that type
of Horticultural activities. So it is our humble message to all farmers for planning
of fruit crops through the help of above govermnet agencies and adopt the planting
materials like graft of Jumbo Super Kesar mango, Black Jamun etc from Jagdamba farm
& nursery

Soil
The mango can grow well in all types of soil, from alluvial to lateritic, except
black cotton soils, which are considered to be poor. However, it is also cultivated
in successfully in soft rocky area of the west coast, soils with an appreciable
amount of gravel or kankar ( CaCo3) in the profile which have a good drainage capacity.
It can be grown in soil pH ranges between 5.5 to 7.0, but the soil should not be
saline and alkaline. Because, mango is the very sensitive to saline condition.
Climate
The mango is the tropical fruit crop and can be grow from sea level to an altitude
of about 1400 m, but there should no high humidity, rain or frost during the flowering
period.
It requires optimum temperature ranging from 24-30 Co for germination, vegetative
growth as well as during flowering and fruit setting period. The low temperature
promoted floral induction of mango and day/night temperature below 20 Co/15 Co trigger
flower induction. Cool temperature with short photoperiod caused floral induction
and visa versa. However, very low or cold temperature below 20 Co as well as high
temperature above 30 Co during flowering and fruit setting affects adversely and
reduces the flowering initiation, pollination and fruit setting and cold temperature
limits crop production.
Light is also important factor affecting vegetative and reproductive growth.
The intensity and distribution of rainfall is most important than amount of rainfall
in a given locality. It can do well in areas having average rainfall as low as 25cm
to as high as 250 cm. However, mango does not do well where there is frequent rains
or high humidity (80%) during flowering period which increases the incidence of
powdery mildew and anthracnose.
Wind velocity in December and February (During flowering and pea size fruit stage)
affects adversely and reduced the production
